National Finals Special

As a way of celebrating the 10th anniversary of this site, we organised a special, where we gave our visitors the opportunity to share their favourite NF song with the world. As The Diggiloo Thrush is a lyrics site, the idea was to collect the lyrics of some of the better NF songs throughout history.

The special was organised in 3 rounds, during the summer of 2009:

  1. Nomination round (June): everyone could nominate one song that participated in a national final, but didn't win. As we were looking for evergreens, only songs from the period 1956-2005 were allowed. 92 songs were nominated, for 26 different countries.
  2. First voting round (July): everyone could pick the song they liked best for each country. That way the list was narrowed down to 1 song per country.
  3. Second voting round (July-August): everyone could vote for the 10 songs they liked best in Eurovision style (12, 10, 8, ..., 1). That way the winner was selected as the best NF evergreen according to the Diggiloo Thrush visitors:
    Nanne Grönvall's "Håll om mig"!
